There’s been no shortage of speculation over Nick Saban’s future this week and Urban Meyer added more fuel to the fire on Thursday afternoon.

On Monday, former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy cited a ‘in-the-know’ source who said Saban wasn’t done on the sidelines. Since then, everyone from Kirby Smart to Brian Kelly to Lane Kiffin has added their thoughts on Saban’s potential return.

Meyer, a rival of Saban’s from his time at Florida and Ohio State, told Colin Cowherd on Thursday that he doesn’t see Saban returning to college football. He does, however, think Saban would listen if an NFL franchise came calling.

“I don’t think he’d go back to college,” Meyer said. “I don’t see that fit … very little to no chance he would get involved in college. But I think he would take phone calls from the NFL.”

Both Meyer and Cowherd acknowledged Saban may still have an itch to get back to the NFL after his first stint with the Miami Dolphins ended poorly. Saban lasted just 2 seasons in Miami and went 15-17 overall.

So far, Saban has not made any public comment on McElroy’s revelation. He’s expected to be back on ESPN’s College GameDay this fall.
