The mid-year update comes just days after a tragic weekend mass shooting in Uptown. Early Sunday morning, 37-year-old Arleigh Alexzander Bryant was killed, and several others were injured after gunfire erupted outside a nightclub in the 300 block of North College Street around 2 a.m. Officers, who were working off-duty security in the area, responded quickly to the scene.

By Tuesday night, police had arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting. Court records identify them as 24-year-old Shawn Cannon and 25-year-old Damien Evans, both now held without bond at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center.
