JIM KELLY has issued a positive health update on his family after his grandson was born with “unexpected medical complications”.
Earlier this week the NFL legend, 65, revealed his daughter, Erin, and her husband, Parker, had welcomed their first child.
However, he revealed the baby had been born with “unexpected medical complications” and asked fans to “keep their grandson in your prayers”.
And in a relieving update, Kelly said the baby has undergone a successful procedure for the complications.
The statement said: “Little Bean’s procedure is complete — and everything went well. THANK GOD!
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for God’s hand in every detail today… for highly skilled and compassionate doctors and nurses… and for every single prayer that’s been lifted on our behalf.”
However, the Kellys asked fans to continue with their prayers as the baby starts on the road to recovery.
The statement also stressed that Erin and Parker are “physically and emotionally exhausted” from the experience.
Details of the health complications have not been made public.
Additionally, the parents have asked for the real name of “Little brave Bean” not to be made public yet.
This is because they want to “announce him to the world”.
The Kelly’s most recent family statement concluded by thanking everyone for the outpouring of love they had been shown during this difficult time.
It said: “THANK YOU SO MUCH! Keep praying to help all of us to KEEP GOING!”
Kelly is a former quarterback who played for the Houston Gamblers between 1984-85 and then the Buffalo Bills between 1986-96.
He was named in five Pro Bowls teams, including three in a row between 1990 and 1992.
Kelly is also immortalised on the Bills Wall of Fame and saw the No12 jersey retired in his honor.
