PENFIELD, N.Y. — A senior living community in Penfield is set to close. Legacy at Grande’Vie on Five Mile Line is expected to close around Sept. 30.
Legacy’s website says the retirement community has faced financial challenges and that the building needs significant investments. For people in memory care, staff will help them to move. For independent living residents, they will get a 30-day notice under their residency agreement.
Legacy says its team is working with residents and their families to “navigate a smooth transition”. Staff will make a list of other local retirement communities and invite representatives from them to come in and talk to the residents starting on Thursday.
Residents will get a refund within 30 days of their move-out. There’s no word on what will happen with the building. To schedule an appointment for help with transitioning, you can call 585-381-0680 or leave a message at 877-501-3043.
Watermark owns Legacy at Grande’Vie and two other Legacy retirement communities in the Rochester area. Watermark says staff will continue caring for the residents until the facility closes:
“The wellbeing of our residents remains our number one priority during this transition. The dedicated associate team at Legacy at Grande’Vie will continue to care for residents with special considerations to ensure this time is as stress-free and as smooth as possible. Watermark’s extensive and qualified network of resources will ensure our community operations continue smoothly and assist our community team in delivering high quality service to residents.”
