ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our active summer continues, with a Yellow Alert posted for Wednesday. This is for the combination of high heat, higher humidity and the potential for some local downpours. The biggest issue is the increase in dew points. Temperatures will climb to near 90 degrees, but dew points rising into the lower 70s will make it feel more like the mid to upper 90s for a few hours during the afternoon and early evening. Some rain will move in, which will actually help to keep temperatures down, but the added moisture will help to produce some locally heavy rain. These downpours will tend to be slow movers, so there’s the slight chance of flash flooding, through the threat looks like it’ll be on the lower side. Thursday will remain quite warm and rather humid ahead of our next cold front, but that won’t arrive until later in the evening. So before that happens, it’ll be another uncomfortably humid day with a few more showers or downpours.
Much more comfortable air blows in on Friday with lower dew points and temperatures in the 70s with the sky becoming mostly sunny. So it’ll be a lovely end to what has been another warm week. The weekend also starts off nice, with dry and comfortable weather, before some showers return again on Sunday.
