Social media reacts to hilarious mixup of playing Texas A&M fight song for Steve Sarkisian

Social media never misses a chance to gang up on something that is altogether ridiculous.

And the SEC’s social media universe was ready to unload on the mixup at SEC Media Days that will likely become stuff of legends. Or maybe just a legendary mistake that whoever was running the sound system at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta will never live down.

It was a simple thing, really. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was being introduced for his press conference on Day 2 of SEC Media Days. Now, there are many tunes someone could’ve used for Sarkisian’s entrance. The Texas fight song, maybe? Some song that has “Hook ’em horns!” in it would’ve surely been a solid choice.

But instead, the last song you would’ve dreamed up would play when Sarkisian came out was indeed playing. It was none other than the Aggie War Hymn that was blasting loudly and proudly, because why not? So, there was the head coach of the proud Texas Longhorns program walking out in stunned fashion while a song for the Longhorns’ bitter in-state rival, Texas A&M, played out for all to shockingly hear.

It was a must-see moment at SEC Media Days, maybe for everybody but the Texas football community.

Here is just a sampling of the social media avalanche that followed the huge mistake:

I guess SEC decided to play either Texas A&M fight song or Boomer Sooner when Sark came on stage. They settled on A&M ? t.co/xJfxMYuamW
