ALBANY, N.Y. — The state’s Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct recommends that Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley be censured for her behavior during last year’s traffic stop in Webster.
Body-worn camera video shows Doorley arguing with a Webster Police officer in her garage. The officer tried to pull her over on Phillips Road for speeding, but instead, Doorley drove home. Video of the April 2024 incident went viral. You can watch the full video here.
The commission says Doorley has cooperated with their investigation and has admitted that her actions warrant a public censure. The commission has sent its findings to the fourth judicial department of the Attorney Grievance Committee. In its opinion, the commission said:
“The ethical obligations imposed by the Rules of Professional Conduct apply to all New York lawyers. It is especially important that prosecutors—given their role as public officials responsible for the administration of justice—comply with those ethical obligations. When a prosecutor engages in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice, especially illegal conduct that adversely reflects on the prosecutor’s honesty, trustworthiness, and fitness as a lawyer, public confidence in the justice system is undermined.”
In an exclusive interview with News10NBC, Doorley apologized for her actions, saying she didn’t treat the officer with the respect he deserved and has no excuse.
