ROCHESTER, N.Y. – City and county leaders raised the Pride flag at a ceremony Monday evening, kicking off Rochester’s Pride Month activities. The event took place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Austin Steward Plaza along the Genesee Riverway Trail.
City leaders and community members delivered speeches during the event, and organizers sashed the Pride Grand Marshals, including Assemblymember Harry Bronson and Reverend Myra Brown.
“The reverend, like me, has worked for years on economic, racial, and social justice issues. It’s widely important for our entire community that we do that. For me, that also includes LGBTQIA plus rights,” Bronson said.
This event marked the start of Pride Week in Rochester.
