Got a white-colored pup with heroic charm? It could be their lucky day.
In celebration of the new Superman film now in theaters, Pumpkin Pet Insurance is giving dogs a moment in the spotlight with its first-ever Krypto the Superdog Look-Alike Contest.
The contest pays tribute to Krypto, Superman’s beloved pooch—and the film's breakout star.
The one-day-only event will take place on Friday, July 18 at 2 PM ET at Manhattan West Plaza in New York City. The best part is they don’t even need to look exactly like Krypto. According to its organizers, all that’s required is big superhero energy.
“We’ve seen celebrity look-alike contests, but this time pets take center stage,” Matt Sherman, Chief Marketing Officer at Pumpkin, said in a press release. “The Krypto Look-Alike Contest is our way of spotlighting the hero inside every pet.”

Two winners will be crowned: one for Best Krypto Look-Alike and another for Least Krypto Look-Alike. Each top dog will win $1,000, and a $2,500 donation will be made to the Angel Fund at a veterinary clinic of the winner’s choice.
The contest also celebrates PumpkinNow™, Pumpkin’s real-time urgent pay service that covers up to 90% of eligible vet bills on the spot, helping pet parents act fast in emergency situations.
Since launching in April 2025, PumpkinNow™ has paid out over $3.5 million in urgent care reimbursements, with some claims approved in under nine minutes.
“With PumpkinNow™, pet parents can be heroes too,” Sherman added.
