ESPN basketball reporter Brian Windhorst made an announcement about his future.
The 47-year-old Windhorst is an impending free agent.
Back in February, it was reported that Windhorst and fellow ESPN teammate, host Malika Andrews, were in the final year of their current contracts, per The Athletic.
Both contracts were set to expire after the 2024-25 NBA season, the report added.
Recently, Windhorst revealed that he hasn’t had contract negotiations with ESPN.
“I’ve been at ESPN 15 years. The company has been wonderful to me,” Windhorst said during The Athletic’s podcast Sports Media with Richard Deitsch.
“And I would love to continue at ESPN.
“There’s no negotiations, so I can very simply say to you, there’s no negotiations.”
Windhorst then shared his hopes for his career moving forward.
“I would love to stay on if that works. If it doesn’t work, I’m 47, not 64.
“My career will continue, I hope.
“But I appreciate the people that do write about it and care, because it does show a different thing.
“I’ve covered the NBA for 23 years.
“I want to cover the NBA.”
Windhorst then shared that he’s “not worried” about his contract status and that he’s “happy” about what he’s done with ESPN in his 15 years with the network.
The NBA insider also pointed out that he’s penned contracts with ESPN in the past, and that deals tend to take some time.
GettyWindhost has covered the NBA for decades[/caption]ESPN reportedly wants to keep Windhorst and Andrews.
If the network fails to sign both, new players are coming onto the broadcast scene for the 2025-26 NBA season and could try to poach either one or both.
Amazon Prime Video and NBC Sports will have both of their new deals with the league begin next season.
Windhorst brings with him decades of experience covering the NBA.
The veteran is a mainstay on ESPN’s programs such as First Take and NBA Countdown.
