In a new post shared to the official Instagram account for the Royal Family, it was announced that Trump, along with First Lady Melania Trump, have been formally invited for a State Visit to the UK.

"His Majesty The King will host The President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, accompanied by the First Lady, Melania Trump, for a State Visit to the UK," read the official announcement statement from Buckingham Palace.
Trump, 79 and the first lady, 55, will be hosted by Charles and Queen Camilla from Wednesday, Sept. 17 to Friday, Sept. 19 later this year.

But the announcement from the King had plenty of social media users up in arms, with a number of Trump critics taking to the comments to call the planned visit a "bad idea."
"This is in very poor taste," one user wrote in the comments, while someone else called the news a "disappointing" announcement from the royals.
"Please change your mind and revoke the invitation," another user requested.
Other users, however, tried to understand the reasoning behind the King's invite, with one user saying it is "good to stay in contact and to sort things out."
"It is more about the longer term relationship & the respect that the UK has for the American people, than honouring one particular person who happens to be the President," someone else added.
