Amer Armbruster, diagnosed with epilepsy in 2019, found ways to continue his passion for running with the help of his family. The event has been a significant source of funding for epilepsy programs.
“They’ve raised enough money through this event for the last four years. It’s funded a lot of our programs for people with epilepsy, our camps, our scholarship program, teen education programs. We couldn’t do what we do if it wasn’t for the help of people like Nyla and her family,” officials said.
Amer, who used to organize the event, has since gone to college. His sister Nyla now leads the effort, making it a true family affair.
