Officials in suburban Winthrop Harbor have located the body of a man reported missing in Lake Michigan this weekend.
According to authorities, the man had last been seen at approximately 10:30 p.m. Friday night, and firefighters were alerted that the man was missing on Saturday afternoon.
After determining that it was likely that the unidentified man had entered the water in the harbor, an exhaustive search was launched, police said. Additional dive and sonar technicians were brough to the scene, and fire, rescue and law enforcement from three counties assisted in the search.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. Saturday, the man’s body was found underneath a dock in the harbor.
Multiple agencies assisted in the search, and an investigation is underway.
