Al Roker created major nostalgia and cravings by pushing McDonald’s to bring back a fan-favorite classic from the 80s.
A beloved food enthusiast, the 70-year-old TV presenter knows his flavors especially when it comes to comfort foods and iconic American classics.
On a recent episode of the TODAY show, the resident weatherman gave his honest opinion regarding an iconic treat that deserves to be back on the menu again.
In a video, Roker said that besides the McRib, he hopes the McDLT will return to the menu. Moreover, he even recalled a 1985 commercial for the fast food giant with Jason Alexander.
“I wanted the McRib back,” he said, adding, “Actually, what I really want back is the McDLT. Keep the hot side hot and the cool side cool.”

Fans took to the comments to agree, sharing the same love for the long-lost burger.
“McDLT was The Best!” a user said.
“Yes, bring back the MCDLT!” a fan noted.
“The McDLT is a WILD take,” a third commenter wrote.
The McDLT, which stands for McDonald’s Lettuce and Tomato, was introduced to the fast-food chain’s menu in 1984.
The unique burger was a hit among the customers because of its
two-compartment Styrofoam packaging.
As Roker said, one side kept the quarter-pound beef patty, bottom half of the bun and melted cheese hot, while the cold side was for the top half of the bun, lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, onion and the dressing.
The hot and cold elements remained separate until the customer assembled them.
Unfortunately, the company ended production of the McDLT in January 1991 in response to mounting concerns over its environmentally unfriendly Styrofoam container.
On the other hand, the long-time host’s suggestion for the fast-food classic to return came after McDonald’s released Snack Wraps on Thursday.
Initially released in 2006, the beloved sandwich was officially discontinued in the U.S. in 2016.
However, after almost a decade, McDonald's decided to roll out the Snack Wrap with two new flavors: spicy and ranch, priced at $2.99 each.
