Live-fire training is set for Camp Pendleton in the coming week, base officials warned.
The training, with high explosive munitions, is scheduled through July 20 and “may be heard anytime throughout the day or night,” the base said.
The hours cited are from midnight to 11:59 p.m. daily.
Camp Pendleton released a schedule that points to a stretch of activities from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. beginning Monday and continuing through Friday. The training is described as “firing high-explosive munitions into the Whiskey/Zulu impact areas.”
On July 20, during those same hours, Marines will conduct training involving live-fire mortars in the same areas.
The Whiskey/Zulu impact areas are in the north central part of the base, between 5 and 7 miles from Fallbrook and 6 and 10 miles from Oceanside.
The base warned that, depending on atmospheric conditions, the sounds may be heard up to 50 miles away.
