DENVER (KDVR) -- A woman was found dead inside a home in Lakewood following a structure fire Friday night, a death West Metro Fire Rescue and Lakewood Police are calling "suspicious."
WMFR said in a Facebook post Saturday that itself and the Lakewood Police Department are investigating the "suspicious death," after they were called to a home in the 1700 block of Cody Street at around 7:15 p.m. Friday night after several 911 callers reported a fire at a duplex.
Upon arrival, firefighters found "heavy" smoke coming out of the front room of the home and, upon entry, the body of an adult woman was found, according to WMFR.
No other injuries were reported. The name of the victim will be released "pending next of kin," WMFR said.
WMFR said no other details are expected to be released at this time, as it remains an active investigation.
