Bhubaneswar: Congress leader and Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday fiercely criticized the Odisha’s BJP government, accusing it of exploiting the poor to benefit billionaire industrialists.
Speaking at the ‘Save Constitution’ rally at Baramunda Ground here, Rahul Gandhi claimed Odisha is effectively controlled by Adani since the BJP assumed power in the state.
Joined by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Gandhi highlighted issues like women’s safety and unemployment, slamming the government’s inaction.
He criticized the handling of Puri’s Rath Yatra, alleging the centuries-old tradition was disrupted to favor Adani’s interests.
Pointing to Adani’s growing influence, Gandhi remarked that Adani’s posters are everywhere in Odisha. It seems he is running the government.
The senior Congress leader also raised concerns about 40,000 missing women in Odisha, stating that 15 women face crimes daily, yet the government stays silent.
He further accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate elections in Bihar, similar to alleged tactics in Maharashtra, where 1 crore new voters reportedly emerged in recent polls.
