Eight civil defense personnel were transported by ambulance to the hospital on Friday, for medical attention after sustaining various injuries while fighting the limited fire that erupted atop the Ramses telecommunications building on Thursday evening.
Their injuries ranged from smoke inhalation and minor ailments due to smoke and exhaustion.
Notably, one firefighter suffered back fractures after falling from a hydraulic ladder during cooling and inspection operations at the site, subsequent to the fire being brought under control.
Medical sources confirmed that all injured individuals are in stable condition and are receiving urgent care.
Meanwhile, medical teams and ambulances remained on standby around the site to support firefighters and ensure their safety as cooling and securing operations continued inside the building.
On Tuesday, The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA)announced that the Cairo telecommunications building’s fire has tragically resulted in four deaths and 22 injuries.
Most vital services, such as emergency police, fire departments, ambulance services, the bread distribution system, airports, ports, and other essential utilities, are operating normally in most governorates, Egypt’s Minister of Communications, Amr Talaat.
He acknowledged, however, that some limited disruptions have appeared in a few governorates, and efforts are underway to restore these services swiftly.
