Jake Paul and Turki Alalshikh appear to have buried the hatchet.
While Paul has previously been critical of Alalshikh’s involvement in the sport, the two were pictured together recently following what appears to have been a very productive meeting.
Alalshikh posted the photo on his X account, captioned with a boxing glove and a fire emoji.
Paul then reshared the picture, writing: “My / MVPs goal has always been to disrupt and grow boxing, and Turki has done that in massive ways.
“Collaborating only helps ensure boxing, for women and men, continues to grow and regain its place as the biggest sport in the world.”
Their recent meeting together is a far cry away from their previous dealings.
It’s believed that Alalshikh was responsible for stopping negotiations between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Paul, who were close to finalising scheduling a bout.
With promises of a lucrative deal, Canelo changed course to sign a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season.
After it fell through, Paul’s promotion company said: “MVP operates with integrity, transparency and respect for the sport, its athletes and the fans. Unfortunately, not everyone in the boxing world shares those values.”
While Alalshikh hit back at the YouTuber-turned-boxer when speaking to ESPN, saying: “Canelo only fights real fighters.”
Despite the collapse of the fight deal, Paul made it clear that he would remain open to fighting Canelo should the opportunity arise in the future.
Paul and Alalshikh have not been linked in conversations since.
Alalshikh has yet to organise a women’s boxing eventMark Robinson/Matchroom Most Valuable Promotions is set to host Taylor-Serrano 3 at Madison Square GardenSarah Stier / NetflixUntil Alalshikh shockingly shared a photo of them together on Thursday afternoon.
With Paul hinting at future collaboration opportunities, it looks like they are ready to put their disagreements behind them, for the greater good of the sport.
This could be a huge financial boost for women’s boxing if Paul can get Turki on side.
Paul has been using Most Valuable Promotions to make huge strides in women’s boxing, signing some of the biggest names in the sport.
All eyes are now on MVP’s huge all-female card on July 11, with the trilogy bout between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano headlining.
The event is set to break records as 17 belts are on the line across the five bouts of the night.
With Taylor 2 and 0 against Serrano, the Puerto Rican will be hoping to edge a win on the judges’ scorecards.
The sequel was scheduled as the co-main event when Tyson and Paul fought in November.
As the anticipation grows, even Tyson has accepted Paul’s offer off a $1million bet for whoever is backing the winner.
