The epic saga of a band of exiles on a journey to save humanity and rebuild civilisation amid the fall of the Galactic Empire continues in season three of Foundation.
The science fiction series, created by David S Goyer and based on the books by Isaac Asimov, returns to Apple TV+ for a third run.
This time fans of the show will be thrust 152 years ahead from season two to a place where the Foundation has become increasingly established while the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire has dwindled.
As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the form of a warlord known as The Mule whose sights are set on ruling the universe by military force as well as mind control.
Starring Jared Harris, Lee Pace and Lou Llobell, this season will see Troy Kotsur and Synnøve Karlsen join the cast.

Jared Harris leads the cast as Hariton “Hari” Seldon, a mathematician and developer of a branch of science which enables him to predict the future.
British actor Harris, 63, will be well-known to television audiences as Lane Pryce in Mad Men and King George VI in The Crown.
He has also appeared in Fringe, The Expanse, The Terror, Chernobyl and Carnival Row.
On film, he has had roles in The Last of the Mohicans, Lost in Space, Perfume, Ocean’s Twelve, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Lincoln and Morbius.
Lee Pace
Lee Pace plays Brother Day (Photo: Patrick Redmond/Apple TV+)Lee Pace stars as Brother Day, the middle-aged genetic clone of Emperor Cleon I of the Galactic Empire.
American actor Pace, 46, starred as Thranduil the Elvenking in The Hobbit trilogy and Ronan the Accuser in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel.
He has also appeared in the films Lincoln, A Single Man, The Good Shepherd, Driven and The Book of Henry.
On television, he has had leading roles in Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies and Halt and Catch Fire.

Lou Llobell plays Gaal Dornick, Hari’s protégée from the planet Synnax.
Zimbabwe-born actress Llobell has had her first major role in Foundation.
The actress, who trained at the University of Birmingham, has appeared previously in the films Voyagers and The Pilgrim.
Terrence Mann

Mann, 74, is a well-known stage actor who has appeared on Broadway in Barnum, Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Addams Family and The Great Gatsby.
He has also appeared as Leland Osgood in Loving, Bob (Hrothbert of Bainbridge) in The Dresden Files and Milton Bailey Brandt in Sense8.

Season three of Foundation launches on Apple TV+ on Friday 11 July with the first episode.
There are 10 episodes in the series, which will be released weekly on Fridays with the final one coming out on 12 September.
The show is only on Apple TV+, so viewers will need a subscription which costs from £8.99 a month. There is a seven-day free trial available.
But fans of the show will then be able to watch or rewatch the first two seasons.
