CENTRE COURT — Aryna Sabalenka twice rushed the aid of fans stricken in the heat during the first set of her Wimbledon semi-final clash.
The Belarusian was due to serve both times medics had to step in two different spectators in the East Stand who were suffering in the full face of the sun.
Sabalenka, 27, brought chilled water and freezer blocks to help out stewards who were attending to the ill persons, both of whom left the arena on their feet to warm applause.

— Wimbledon (@Wimbledon) July 10, 2025It did not help her against Amanda Anisimova, as the American took the first set after 56 minutes – and many spectators in the East Stand took the opportunity to duck out of the sun.
Wimbledon is into its second heatwave of the Championships, after recording the hottest ever opening day last week, when the mercury reached 32.3 degrees Celsius. Thursday’s forecast did not suggest that mark would be matched, but the Met Office did forecast temperatures of 31°C on women’s semi-final day.
The hottest Wimbledon day on record was 1 July, 2015, when temperatures reached 35.7°C.
