In a move to adjust pricing policies, the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) decided in its June 30 meeting to revoke a previous resolution from September 28, 2002, which had mandated an equal entry fees for Arab tourists and local citizens to Egypt’s archaeological sites and museums.
Starting January 1, 2026, entry fees for archaeological sites and museums under the SCA will be categorized into two main tiers: Egyptians and foreigners, with Arab nationalities now falling under the foreigners category.
The SCA clarified that this new decision stems from the disparity in income levels between the two groups.
It also aligns with the existing practice at the Grand Egyptian Museum and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, where a single admission fee applies to both Arabs and foreign visitors (non-Egyptians).
