ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The First Alert Weather team has issued a Yellow Alert for Ontario and Yates County in anticipation for a possible severe thunderstorm later today. The timeframe for this storm is 4-7pm, and the main threats are damaging wind gusts and small hail. Make sure to tune in to News10 NBC at Noon and the 4pm show for further updates, and download the News10 NBC First Alert Weather app for instant updates sent directly to your phone and to access the app’s radar feature so you can see exactly where the storm is.
Before that however, expect a partly cloudy humid morning with temperatures rising through the 70s and peaking in the mid 80s as scattered showers perhaps with a rumble of thunder develop this afternoon for the majority of the Rochester region. Showers should end by late afternoon, so events like Party in the Park should be okay. Make sure to check back in for updates to see if you should bring your rain jacket anyways.
Friday will be mostly sunny and a little less humid, with a small chance of scattered afternoon showers south of the Thruway. This weekend the heat and humidity really ramp up especially on Sunday, when thunderstorms are again possible.
Stay tuned to News10 NBC for all your First Alert Weather updates.
