The royal rift between King Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry appears to show no signs of healing. During a high-profile state dinner attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, the king delivered a speech praising his eldest son while noticeably omitting any mention of Harry.
Charles, his wife Camilla, Queen Consort, William, and Kate Middleton were among the senior royals who attended the event. The royal family typically hosts state dinners during official state visits from world leaders.
The event was held at Windsor Castle. The royal family's ancestral palace is located in the town of Windsor, in the English county of Berkshire.

The king affectionately called the Prince of Wales "my son" as he discussed why Windsor was so important to the royal family's ancestry. The king said, “The castle in which we meet this evening was begun by my ancestor — and your sometime countryman — William, Duke of Normandy, in the year 1070. It remains the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world.”

“So it is perhaps rather appropriate that my son, the Prince of Wales, who shares that earlier William’s name, has made Windsor his home with his family, like so many of our predecessors,” he added.
William, Kate, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, reside in Windsor. They moved to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Great Park from London in 2022.
Harry remains estranged from his father and brother. Their division reportedly stems from a series of personal and public grievances that have played out over several years.
These include remarks Harry and Meghan made in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, where the couple alleged racism within the royal family, a lack of support, and feeling unprotected. The couple also gave a series of interviews where they discussed unresolved issues with the House of Windsor. Harry's book Spare further explored the reasons for the estrangement.
The Duke of Sussex recently told the BBC, "There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family. I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious."
