Brett Yormark wants to see more out of Big 12 football this season after just one program advanced to the College Football Playoff a season ago.
In the inaugural version of the 12-team Playoff, Arizona State won the Big 12 and was awarded the No. 4 overall seed as an automatic qualifier. The Sun Devils even came close to knocking off Texas in the Peach Bowl but ultimately fell, 39-31, in a double overtime thriller.
Now, speaking at Big 12 Media Days, Yormark has said getting multiple bids to the Playoff would help “credentialize” the league’s progress. He also put it on the football programs in his conference to “perform at a high level to get there.”
“We need multiple teams and we need to win a CFP game,” said Yormark.

Unfortunately for the league, ESPN’s Football Power Index shares a similar view of the conference. Kansas State is given the best shot to reach the final field at 22.2% with Arizona State (16.1%), Kansas (13.4%), BYU (12.6%) and Baylor (10.5%) following behind.
We’ll see how the final race shapes up, but getting multiple bids will be a tall task for the Big 12.
