Denver is bracing for triple-digit temperatures Wednesday that could break the city’s record for the hottest July 9, according to the National Weather Service.
The sunny, hot weather is forecast to peak at 101 degrees in Denver on Wednesday, weather service forecasters said. If it does, it will break the current record of 100 degrees set in 2022.
Near-record heat is also expected across Colorado’s Eastern Plains, with temperatures forecast to hover between 98 and 102 degrees, according to the weather service.
A heat advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday for Denver, Larimer, Weld, Boulder, Jefferson, Broomfield, Douglas, Adams and Arapahoe counties.
“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors,” forecasters stated in the advisory.
