Its HX and Torqshift models are being expanded after tests on 150 trucks showed improvements in speed and efficiency.
The expanded range includes the HX heavy duty series, with two new models, the 2828C HX and 3532C HX.
They’re available with either 280 hp with 1100 Nm torque or 320 hp with 1250 Nm torque.
The trucks are equipped with hill hold assist, unitised front axle bearings and a wind deflector.
BharatBenz’ Torqshift series offers the 2832CM and 3532CM variants for mining work. The vehicles are fuel efficient and have automated manual transmission allowing for zero lag.
Also available is a variant of the 2832C with a 9 cubic meter ready mix concrete capacity.
The company has 385 vehicle dealerships in India and is able to service vehicles within 48 hours.
“We’re seeing a decisive shift as large contractors invest in owned assets for better control and long-term returns,” said Satyakam Arya, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles’ chief executive.
“Many fleets are 8-10 years old and reaching the end-of-life, creating a major replacement cycle.”
BharatBenz says that the country’s construction and mining sector is due to grow from US$16bn to $45bn by 2030.
