COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person has been arrested after a double shooting occurred Wednesday morning at a North Linden bar, where a Columbus Police Officer was located just a half a block away.
According to Sergeant Joe Albert, a CPD officer was patrolling the 1400 block of Oakland Park Avenue, investigating a possible stolen vehicle, when they witnessed an individual pull up in front of the Oakland Park Bar and Grill. The person from within the vehicle reportedly fired multiple shots at the bar and fled the area at a high rate of speed.
The officer caught up to the alleged shooter after the vehicle struck a tree while attempting to drive through a median of a roundabout at the intersection of Weldon Avenue and Dresden Street. The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, was taken into to custody and charged with felonious assault.
A gun was recovered along East North Broadway Street, where it is believed the suspect threw the gun out of window of the vehicle.

A man and a woman were taken to an area hospital and listed in stable condition.
Police did not know if the victims were located inside or outside of the bar when they were shot and remain unclear what led to the shooting. The Felony Assault Unit was called to the scene, and the shooting is still under investigation.
