A ground delay at Denver International Airport on Tuesday afternoon for thunderstorms in the area was affecting hundreds of flights, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
A ground stop started at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday and turned into a ground delay just before 3:20 p.m., according to the FAA.
As of 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, 355 flights headed in and out of DIA had been delayed and a dozen had been canceled, according to flight tracking data from FlightAware.
Flights trying to leave Denver at that time were seeing delays ranging from 30 minutes to more than 3 hours, FAA officials said. Incoming flights were delayed between 46 minutes and an hour on average.
United delayed the most flights on Tuesday, with 130 planes failing to leave the gate on time, according to FlightAware. Southwest followed closely behind at 124 delays.

Eight other airlines delayed between one and nine flights.
United and SkyWest each canceled four flights on Tuesday, and Southwest canceled three, according to FlightAware.
