ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Yesterday a cold front passed through our area, kicking up warmth and moisture and producing storms that even caused a possible damaging tornado in Phelps. A National Weather Service survey team is headed there today to determine if the damage was caused by a tornado or other dangerous weather such as straight-line winds or a microburst. We’ll have an update on that later today.
Now that the cold front has passed however, we are in for a much quieter, more comfortable day. Although it will still be warm, it will be quite tolerable with highs in the upper 70s. Dew point values will stay in the 60s, which is still somewhat humid, but much better than the past few days. Morning and afternoon clouds will clear for the evening, and winds will be light. There’s a small chance for passing light showers near the Finger Lakes.
Tomorrow some heat returns with highs in the mid 80s, and humidity returns to a more muggy status. Small chance for some afternoon showers/thunder, but a greater chance overnight Wednesday and Thursday P.M. Storms not looking severe as of right now, but make sure to check back in later for the latest forecast.
Friday we get some sun and drier air, then the heat returns on Saturday with temps near 90 and humidity making it feel hotter. Sunday, storms are possible.
