Mr Tebbit was part of then prime minister Margaret Thatcher’s cabinet during the 1980s, serving as employment secretary and party chairman.
He was the most high-profile victim of the IRA’s bombing of the Grand Hotel in Brighton and was trapped in the rubble for hours, with left his wife paralysed for life.
Lord Tebbit was known for his tough reaction to the riots in the early years of Thatcher’s government.
He told one party conference that his father did not riot when he did not have a job, saying: “He got on his bike and looked for work.”
