A former lead of The Bachelorette has been sharing details about her experience with stage 4 breast cancer, and she just posted a major update. Katie Thurston received the results of the first scans she has had since beginning her cancer treatments, and she had positive news to reveal.
In an Instagram post on July 7, Thurston shared, "Today the scans confirmed the tumors are SHRINKING!!"
Thurston added, "This is amazing news and I am so relieved!"
In her Instagram Stories, Thurston noted before her scans were done that "As long as my scans are good, I can continue this treatment plan. As a stage 4 girly, I'll be on a treatment plan for life so it's a win when something is working."
She also shared that because the tumors are shrinking, she will have a consultation about potentially having surgery to remove the tumors.
"So many of you have prayed for me and I can feel it. Thank you for your ongoing selfless love and support of a complete stranger you once saw on some silly reality show," Thurston wrote in another Instagram Story.

Thurston posted additional details about her scan results in what she calls her "Boobie Broadcast" on Instagram. It indicated that tumors both in her right breast and her lymph nodes have shrunk since beginning treatment. She also noted, "Still waiting on my PET scan results regarding the liver but I am hopeful."
Fans flooded the comment section of Thurston's post with comments.
"I don't even know you but I literally had tears in my eyes. Such wonderful news," one comment read.
"Continuing to send good, tumor-shrinking vibes!!! This is GREAT news," wrote another fan.
Someone else added, "Amazing!! I'm in tears!! I think I can speak on behalf of everybody who followed you, that we are all just simply thrilled!!!"
