Warriors make official two trades to add rookies ...Middle East

The Warriors made a pair of moves official on Sunday that landed them second-round rookies Will Richard and Alex Toohey.

They first announced a trade that brought in Toohey, an Australian forward selected 52nd overall in Thursday’s second round, from the Phoenix Suns and Jahmai Mashack, the 59th and final overall pick out of Tennessee, from the Houston Rockets. In exchange, they sent Koby Brea, the No. 41 pick out of Kentucky, to Phoenix.

The deal was the first in league history to involve seven teams, as Kevin Durant went from Phoenix to Houston while Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and the No. 10 overall pick, Khaman Maluach of Duke, went to Phoenix. Houston also added Clint Capela, bringing Atlanta into the deal.

The Timberwolves, Lakers and Nets were also minor players in the deal.

The Warriors then sent Mashack and the rights to 2021 second-rounder Justinian Jessup to Memphis in exchange for Richard, the No. 56 overall pick. The Warriors’ portion of the deal was reported on draft night, as were many other elements of the trade, before it was made official on Sunday as the league’s free agency signing period opened.

In total, the Warriors sent out the No. 41 pick (Brea) and the rights to Jessup and received Nos. 52 (Toohey) and 56 (Richard).

Richard made his Summer League debut on Sunday for the Warriors in their California Classic game against the Spurs hours after the trade came through. He had 16 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Toohey watched from the stands as the Warriors lost 90-88.
