OAKLAND — Investigators arrested a man Sunday night on suspicion that he shot a man to death early Saturday, police said Monday.
Police did not identify the person. They said they arrested him just after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night.

Police said it happened on a sidewalk in the 800 block of 41st Street, a residential area between Market and Lusk streets.
Authorities in Alameda County did not identify the man Monday morning, pending notification of the victim’s relatives.
The killing was the 38th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. A year ago at this time, police had investigated 50 homicides.
According to police, the man was outside his home of the sidewalk and got into a confrontation with another man. The gunfire followed, and the man died at the scene.
The shooter fled the scene before the police arrived. Police have not said whether the shooter and the victim knew each other or what prompted the two to confront each other.
