Speaking to RevSportz, Sourav Ganguly claimed Shubman Gill's batting performance as one of the best innings witnessed by him on English soil. He mentioned that in his years of playing as well as watching cricket, he has never seen such an authoritative innings in England.
"Shubman is batting like a dream," said Ganguly. "See my tweet and you will know. In my three decades of playing and watching cricket in the UK, this is one of the best exhibitions of batting that I have seen."
"He is simply flawless. There are no chinks in his armour and the English bowlers don't look like getting him out. See the way he is batting, and you will know what I am saying. Gill isn't making a single mistake. He was always pleasing to the eye.
"And now he is showing the hunger and the temperament. If you see him now, you will be left wondering how can he have an average of less than 50 in Test cricket." Ganguly said while speaking with RevSportz.
Ganguly dethroned Virat Kohli's historic 2018 heroics
In praising Shubman Gill's impact, Sourav Ganguly unintentionally dethroned former Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli from the top position for his stellar knocks in the England series back in 2018.
The batter amassed a historic 593 runs in the series back then when he was the skipper of the Indian side. The Indian skipper surpassed his own records of 2014 to reach a career-high performance, with 2 centuries and 3 fifties.
Though Rahul Dravid still tops the list of Indian batters with the most runs in a Test series in England, with 602 runs, which he scored during the 2002 series. Shubman Gill is not far away, having scored 585 runs in just two games, and there are three more matches yet to be played in the series.

Ganguly praises Akash Deep with 'Shami-like' comparison
The rising star of Indian fast bowling, Akash Deep, has been all over the internet for his dominant performance at Edgbaston. His 10-wicket haul marked the second such feat by an Indian bowler since Chetan Sharma in 1986.
Now, former Indian skipper and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has lauded Akash Deep's performance. The former BCCI president has said that Akash Deep reminded him of Mohammed Shami, highlighting his delivery to English batter Joe Root on Day 4.
"Very Shami, isn't he," said Ganguly, all praise. "He was just fantastic, Akash Deep. The way he used the crease, the way he ran in and the amount of swing he got was brilliant."
