Wiaan Mulder has written a golden chapter in the history of South African cricket, delivering a performance that will be remembered for years to come in the ongoing second Test against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
The stand-in captain for South Africa has created history with his triple ton on Day 2 of the ongoing second Test against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club. On his debut as Test captain, Mulder scored a breathtaking triple century and became the first-ever player to achieve this feat.
Apart from becoming the first player ever to score a triple century on a captaincy debut in Test cricket, Wiaan Mulder also broke legendary batter Hashim Amla’s long-standing record of 311* set in 2012. He now has the record of the highest individual score for South Africa in their Test history.

Mulder reached the triple century in just 297 balls, becoming the second-fastest player to hit a triple hundred in Test history. The record for the fastest triple ton still belongs to Virender Sehwag, who made this world record by reaching the triple century in 278 balls against South Africa in 2008.
At the age of 27 and 138 days old, the Proteas all-rounder has also broken a 61-year-old record held by Bob Simpson and become the youngest Test captain to score a triple century. Overall, Mulder has now joined an elite list as the ninth captain in Test history to score a triple century.

He is also the first captain in the last decade to achieve this rare milestone. Former New Zealand captain and current England head coach Brendon McCullum was the last captain who hit 302 against India in 2014 at Wellington.
However, the rest of the 8 captains didn’t hit 300 in their captaincy debuts. These other players are RB Simpson, Graham Gooch, Mark Taylor, Brian Lara, Mahela Jayawardene, Younis Khan, Michael Clarke, and Brendon McCullum.

Meanwhile, Wiaan Mulder continues to make history with the bat as he becomes only the seventh player in Test cricket history to score 350 runs in a single innings.
He brought up the milestone in style, smashing a short ball from Kundai Matigimu to the boundary with a powerful pull shot to the leg side. Mulder calmly raised his bat once again towards the dressing room to celebrate the feat.
Well, the carnage just doesn't stop as Mulder is racing towards his record 400, and South Africa has already crossed the 610-run mark against Zimbabwe.
