A comical moment involving India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Siraj and umpire Sharfuddoula unfolded during the fifth day of the second Test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Umpire Sharfuddoula, who has been under fire for his poor umpiring, accidentally hit India pacer Mohammed Siraj on the head with the ball on Sunday, July 6.

On the fourth ball of the 53rd over of the final innings, umpire Sharfuddoula made a horrible LBW decision in favour of the India National Cricket Team.
Prasidh Krishna bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to Jamie Smith on the middle stump, and the English wicketkeeper-batsman was beaten for pace.
Smith looked to play a pull shot, but he missed and was hit on the back thigh. After the appeal from the Indian players, umpire Sharfuddoula surprisingly raised his finger, and seeing this, Jamie Smith was shocked.
The young England wicketkeeper-batsman immediately used a review and survived as Ultra-edge showed that the ball would miss the stumps by a big margin.
Moments after the not-out decision was displayed by the third umpire on the big screen, umpire Sharfuddoula lobbed the ball towards Mohammed Siraj, who dropped it, and it hit him on the head.
Mohammed Siraj suffered a glancing blow on the head, leaving Sharfuddoula worried for a few seconds, and then he made the signal to reverse his decision.

Speaking on Sky Sports, former India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik showered rich praise on Jamie Smith and said:
"Smith's been very good, to say the least. He's hit some exquisite shots, but most importantly, he's had an impeccable attitude under pressure. He came out, knew exactly what he wanted to do, and went about doing his thing in a very quiet, calm manner..Well done, Jamie Smith."
Meanwhile, the former England skipper Nasser Hussain lauded the captaincy of Shubman Gill. He stated:
"England had done quite a bit of the hard work. Stokes, who hasn't spent a lot of time in the middle, was beginning to find his rhythm and the ball was getting soft.
"So it was a really good decision to notice it had just flicked the front pad [for Stokes' lbw dismissal] and for Gill to bowl off-spinner Washington. Gill has got most things spot-on in that session and even done things most of us wouldn't - the end Deep bowled at."
Talking about the match, the England National Cricket Team are struggling at 242/8 in the ongoing match in Birmingham and they are still 366 runs away from winning. India would he looking to wrap up the innings quickly to make sure that the rain doesn't play spoilsport.
