Miami flips blue-chip defensive back away from Michigan

Miami has landed a commitment from Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back announced on Saturday that he is flipping his commitment from Michigan to Miami, giving coach Mario Cristobal another blue-chip corner to add to a class that should completely revitalize that room. Jennings becomes the fourth 4-star corner to join the Hurricanes’ 2026 class.

Michigan was among the first schools to recruit Jennings way back in the spring of 2023. He visited Miami in early 2024, then attended a camp at Florida State in June 2024, but he gave his verbal commitment to the Wolverines on July 28, 2024.

His recruitment has continued to pick up steam since. Miami officially offered him in January of this year and kept the line of communication open. He took an official visit to the school at the end of May and then followed that up with OVs to Florida, Florida State, and Michigan in June. Jennings finally pulled the trigger and made things official on Saturday.

In the industry-generated 247 Composite, he’s the No. 24 corner and the No. 43 prospect from the state of Florida. Jennings sits at No. 277 overall in the national player rankings.

MaxPreps credits Jennings with 29 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 3 pass breakups, and 1 interception in 11 games as a junior last fall. He also had 33 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and 1 pick as a sophomore. He was a major priority for Cristobal and his staff.

The flip gives Miami its 20th known commitment in the 2026 class. The group ranks inside the top 10 classes in the country, according to the Composite. Michigan, which also has a top-10 class, drops down to 19 known commitments. Jennings was, however, the class’s only corner commit. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
