According to the publication, Simpson has been open about the fact that she has lost 100 pounds over the years. In an April 2022 interview on The Real, Simpson said the weight loss "took three years." She explained that she decided to lose weight slowly and set "small goals for" herself.
"Because in my life, and how I've done it, I mean there's easy ways to throw in the towel and just feel like it's impossible," said Simpson during the interview. "So the small goals for me are what help me achieve the main goals."
She also clarified that "being in a bikini was never [her] main goal." Simpson said, however, that she "got super emotional" when she finally felt comfortable to wear a two-piece in public after losing 100 pounds.
In addition, Simpson said she has "lost 100 pounds three times." She explained that she tended to "gain a lot of weight in [her] pregnancies" with her three children, whom she shares with her estranged husband, Eric Johnson.
"I definitely gain a lot of weight in my pregnancies," said Simpson.
Simpson also shared a message for women who may feel insecure about their appearance. The Dukes of Hazzard star encouraged fans to accept their unique features.
"I think if everyone gets to know themselves, they'll like themselves more. Instead of aspiring for perfection to look like somebody else. But if we praise our unique features or qualities, like I've never fixed my nose, or I've never got braces for my buck teeth, but I like those," said Simpson during the 2022 interview.
