CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - A tropical storm formed Saturday morning off the southeast coast, which will bring heavy rainfall to much of coastal South Carolina through Sunday morning.
The National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm watch from Edisto Beach to Little River Inlet.
Saturday AM: Tropical Storm #Chantal has formed about 150 mi. off the coast of Charleston. Minimal impacts for our area, but flooding is possible over the next few days from Wilmington area south to Myrtle Beach. Impacts include heavy rainfall, some flash flooding, windy conditions along the coast, and rough surf and rip currents for the next couple of days.
The tropical storm is likely to bring rip currents and flooding on Sunday morning.
