At least seven people were injured in a shooting in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood Friday night.
According to police, two male suspects approached a group of people who were standing outside in the 4800 block of South Justine at approximately 11:11 p.m.
The two suspects then opened fire, striking multiple victims.
Two of the victims, a 42-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to area hospitals in critical condition, police said.
A 27-year-old woman was shot in the left leg, a 21-year-old woman was shot in the right thigh, a 21-year-old man was shot in the right leg and foot, a 29-year-old man was shot in the left arm, and a 25-year-old woman was shot in the left flank, police said. All five were transported to area hospitals in serious condition.
There was no word on what led up to the shooting, and police are still investigating. No suspects are in custody at this time.
The shooting comes just one day after a mass shooting outside a restaurant and lounge in the River North neighborhood that left four people dead and another 14 injured. Multiple weapons were recovered at the scene, but no suspects are in custody at this time.
