DENVER (KDVR) -- The fireworks show that was set to take place in Leadville on the 4th of July has been canceled.
The Leadville Lions Club announced that the professional fireworks display was canceled because the fireworks had been delivered to Telluride.
The drive between Telluride and Leadville takes around four and a half hours, and the town said early Friday evening that they would not arrive in time for the show.
"The Leadville Lions Club is sad to announce that there will be no fireworks tonight as all the fireworks were delivered to Telluride. We have no way to pick them up and bring them to Leadville in time," Leadville/Lake County Fire Rescue said in a post on Facebook.
There will still be plenty of fireworks to see across the state Friday night. In the high country, there will be a display in Cripple Creek at 9:30 p.m. and another in Vail at 9:45 p.m.
For more options, see FOX31's list of fireworks shows across the state.
