Matt Damon has fully embraced his new role as Odysseus.
The iconic actor, 54, has been sporting an unkempt beard and longer hair as he continues filming The Odyssey overseas. On July 2, Damon was photographed leaving a gym in Scotland, and was nearly unrecognizable compared to his usual clean cut look.
In a photo published by People magazine, Damon went somewhat incognito as he walked out of the gym in Morayshire while wearing a baseball cap and a hoodie. As for why Damon hasn't shaved, it's because cast is still in the thick of filming.

Cameras started rolling in February and the cast and crew has traveled to various locations in Europe to film, including Morocco, Greece and Italy. They've since moved filming to Scotland and will continue on to various other locations before production wraps.
In addition to growing out his hair — and letting it go gray — Damon has also been working on his physique for the role. Back in March, People uploaded photos of Damon with a ripped mid-section.
"It's a dream team," actor John Leguizamo told People of his Odyssey co-stars in an interview published on July 4. The film also stars Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland.
The Odyssey has been adapted by Christopher Nolan and is set to hit theaters in July 2026. For the time being, fans can expect Damon to keep his longer hair and beard — and his toned abs — while filming continues.
