Former Baywatch star David Charvet admitted that he doesn't miss his time in the spotlight after he quit acting and left Hollywood.
“I don't miss the fame. I don't miss the workload that we had because we used to work a lot, and it's very hard to raise a family that way," Charvet, 53, told People in an interview published on Thursday, July 3. "I commend all of the actors who have families that are able to balance that.”
However, Charvet did admit to missing a few aspects from his past life. “I miss the camaraderie that I had with the people on the sets," he shared. "I had old-school producers and old-school people that worked as a unit, and it was a real family."
After rising to fame on shows such as Baywatch and Melrose Place, Charvet knew he wanted to live a more private life once he and his then-wife, Brooke Burke, started having children. Charvet, who is the father to kids Heaven Rain, 18, and Shaya Braven, 17, stepped away from Hollywood and chose to focus on a career in construction.
Charvet found success in the field, and he and a business partner started Jones Builders Group in 2008. The company primarily builds luxury homes in the Los Angeles area.
“It was one way for me to leave Hollywood and to still be creative,” the father of two said about his new professional path. “It was also one way for me to ensure that I would be home every morning and home every night so that I could raise my two children.”

He continued, “The goal was when I got my children, when they were born, was that I was going to be hands-on. I promised Brooke that I would be that man."
Charvet and Burke, 53, split after seven years of marriage in 2018, while their divorce was finalized in 2020.
Now that he's gone a decade without acting, Charvet can confidently say he has no regrets about his decision. “I wouldn't change anything,” he told the outlet. “I have to say that what I've experienced with my kids and what I've experienced in the last 17 years has definitely made me a better man, has made me understand what it is to have real relationships and be able to treat people kindly and have more of a humble approach in life.”
