TRAVIS Kelce has admitted that he didn’t focus enough on football last season.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end put his fame first and ended up paying for it on the field.
After winning the Super Bowl in the 2023 season and continuing his relationship with Taylor Swift, Kelce was at the height of his fame last year.
While he was busy doing commercials, filming TV shows, and pursuing other opportunities in the 2024 offseason, he was neglecting his training.
That led to the worst statistical season of his NFL career.
Kelce finished the 2024 season with 823 yards and three touchdowns.
Both of those numbers were the lowest he has ever produced.
This year, Kelce has taken a much different strategy when it comes to his offseason.
While he has notched a cameo in the upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel, Kelce totally overhauled his time off after the Super Bowl loss in February.
For the early parts of the offseason, he and Swift were nowhere to be found.
Kelce revealed on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast that he needed to rethink his priorities after that loss.
“I think the biggest thing is you kind of refocus on where your attention is in the offseason,” he said.
“I think last year, and really the past three years, I’ve had a lot of attention on taking a step away from football to figure out what I’m doing afterwards and make sure I set that up and I’m setting myself up for the future.
“I’ve kind of always had that mentality in the offseason, but I took on bigger projects.
“This year I kind of put all that to the side and I’m like ‘Man, I’m going into the last year of my contract, 13th year… I’m going to make this dream that I’ve always had the best it’s ever been.’
“I think I failed last year in a lot of different ways for my guys on the field, in terms of being a leader and being prepared and ready to rock. [But] I’m motivated to be accountable for the guys man.”
Kelce hinted at retirement after the Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but ultimately decided he wanted to go out on a better note.

“I just had a sour taste in my mouth immediately like, “Man this can’t be the last game,'” he continued.
“I still feel like I can do it, and I kind of wanted to give myself that full focus.
“When I looked at the year in review and how I got ready for the year, it’s not to say that I was doing it wrong, it’s just that when you get older you start to figure things out differently.
“Your body doesn’t react to how you used to do things, you have to focus a little bit more on the preparation and being there and being ready, and then throughout the week you’ve got to have more of a plan to get back to 100 percent.”
The 2025 season is the final year of Kelce’s contract, and will likely be his final year in the NFL.
