Iconic Director, 85, Has Addictive Affairs Detailed in New Biography

Legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood's "addictive" affairs are detailed in Shawn Levy’s recent biography, Clint: The Man and The Movies.

In preparation for the book, Levy, 63, spoke with Eastwood, 95, and many others from his personal life to shed light on his marriages with Maggie Johnson and Dina Ruiz, as well as his notable partnerships with Sondra Locke and Frances Fisher.

“By many accounts, including his own, he more or less comported himself as if he were a bachelor,” Levy wrote of Eastwood’s relationship with Johnson, 93, whom he was married to from 1953 to 1984.

Levy claimed that Eastwood had many affairs during his first marriage, which he alleged Johnson was aware of.

“One thing Mag had to learn about me was that I was going to do as I pleased,” the Rawhide actor told Photoplay back in 1963. “She had to accept that, because if she didn’t, we wouldn’t be married.”

Eastwood has never lied about his infidelities, and he was also quoted saying, “I’m independent, a vagabond, and [Johnson] accepts me as I am and doesn’t strangle me with female possessiveness.”

The recent biography, which was released by Harper Collins on Tuesday, July 1, alleged that Eastwood picked up women in his acting classes, as well as on studio lots where he worked. Some of the women he had affairs with even lived in the apartment complex where he and Johnson resided.

One affair this is broken down in the book is Eastwood's relationship with Locke, whom he cast in his 1975 film The Outlaw Josey Wales. Locke, who died in 2018, wrote in her 1997 autobiography, The Good, the Bad, and the Very Ugly: A Hollywood Journey, that Eastwood told her "there was no real relationship left" between him and Johnson when their romance began.

Locke also claimed in her book that she had two abortions and a tubal ligation during their relationship because Eastwood said he didn't want any more children. However, Eastwood denied the claim.
