Recent leaks have unveiled images of the anticipated iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air, both showcased in a striking black color. These dummy models, shared by prominent leaker Majin Bu, exhibit a sleek design characterized by a super-wide camera bump that has attracted considerable attention . While these images provide an intriguing glimpse into Apple's design direction, it is crucial to acknowledge that they do not represent the final products. The official unveiling is expected in September, leaving room for potential modifications to the designs .
This is the first report to link the anticipated top camera redesign with a repositioning of the Apple logo, but the change could make sense. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to move to a new aluminum frame that encompasses almost the entire rear, with a cutout for a glass squircle below the full-width aluminum camera bump to enable wireless charging. As a result, it could make sense for the Apple logo to be centered within that glass cutout.
However, moving the Apple logo could cause some amount of confusion among users or require changes to the way MagSafe-compatible accessories are designed. This is because since its introduction with the iPhone 12, the Apple logo has indicated where users should align MagSafe accessories, with the magnets embedded beneath the center of the back panel around the logo.
The new report chimes with one in May from analyst Ross Young. At the time, it seemed to suggest that not only will the display be bigger, but that it could finally mean the regular iPhone would see ProMotion technology — where a dynamic refresh rate balances smoother viewing while conserving battery life where possible — would come to a non-Pro iPhone for the first time.
The iPhone 17 Air particularly stands out due to its remarkable thinness and refined aesthetic. The leaked images reveal a camera bar design reminiscent of Google's Pixel series, positioned higher on the device's back . This design choice may enhance functionality while maintaining an elegant appearance. Furthermore, the significant size of the camera bars on both models indicates Apple's commitment to improving photographic capabilities in their latest lineup . As enthusiasts await further details, these leaks contribute valuable insights into Apple's evolving smartphone portfolio.
