A 30-person brawl erupted just after midnight Sunday just east of the Greeley Stampede grounds, police said.
No deaths or severe injuries were reported in the fight, which Greeley Police Cmdr. Mike Heck called the most severe he’s seen in his near-decade overseeing police operations at the Stampede. The Stampede was still open when the fight broke out, but Heck said nobody was in the area who wasn’t involved in the brawl.
Ten Greeley officers on patrol at the Stampede arrived just after the fight started, and police say most of the crowd dispersed when the initial officers arrived.
Several people involved were tracked gang members, many of whom police had run-ins with earlier in the night, according to arrest records. Three arrests were made immediately following the event, but no charges have yet been officially filed against any of the suspects, court records show.
Heck said Greeley police are reviewing footage of the brawl to identify as many people as possible and charge them appropriately.
