Huge boost for India: Jasprit Bumrah hints at playing 2nd Test against England

India began their training ahead of the second Test match against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham, following their loss in the series opener at Headingley in Leeds. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah was present at the venue but did not take part in any on-field practice during the first net session on Friday, June 27.

Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna did not take part in the practice session in preparation for the second Test. However, their teammates went through their batting and bowling routines in the nets. Two pacers stayed within the stadium premises and had earlier traveled with the squad on the team bus.

Jasprit Bumrah was at his best in the first innings of the Leeds Test, registering bowling figures of 5 for 83. However, he couldn’t replicate that impact in the second innings, finishing without a wicket as India fell to a five-wicket defeat.

In the lead-up to the England series, reports indicated that Bumrah would play only three of the five Tests due to workload management. The 31-year-old pacer later confirmed this in an interview with Dinesh Karthik on Sky Sports.

With India now trailing 0-1 in the series and the second Test at Edgbaston being a virtual must-win, there has been growing pressure from fans and former players urging the team to include Bumrah in the playing XI.
