Deontay Wilder has linked up with new head trainer Don House ahead of his comeback fight after parting ways with Malik Scott on amicable terms.
Scott, who was famously knocked out by the American powerhouse 11 years ago, stepped up to replace Mark Breland ahead of Wilder’s trilogy bout with Tyson Fury in 2021.
Wilder was subsequently knocked out in the eleventh round, but he rebounded one year later to flatten Robert Helenius with a short right hand.
This would be his sole victory under Scott’s guidance, as ‘The Bronze Bomber’ went on to lose a lopsided decision to Joseph Parker before succumbing to a brutal stoppage loss at the hands of Zhilei Zhang thereafter.
His most recent setback marked the end of a four-year partnership with Scott, who confirmed that the decision to part ways was made with no ill will.
“I wanted the best for Deontay,” said Scott. “He did things to electrify the sport, and something needs to be reinvigorated.
“He called me and let me know we were doing things different in the corner for this fight.
“We thanked each other for all we did for each other. He’s in good hands, and I know he’s in good hands.”
Wilder added: “We’re brothers, and always will be brothers. We talk all the time, and there’s nothing bad between us.
“Sometimes things change, and this was one of those times.”
In Scott’s absence, Wilder has elected to keep his corner familiar.
Long-time coach and co-manager, Jay Deas, will remain a part of his team, while new head trainer, House, joined Wilder’s camp ahead of his trilogy with Fury.

He first came into contact with Wilder when the American broke his heart by snatching the green and gold strap from his student a year later.
Outside of boxing, House worked as a UFC cutman for over 20 years and helped sharpen light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz‘s hands during a fruitful tenure together.
House initially joined Wilder’s team as a cutman but has risen through the ranks to now be the man to lead him into battle against Tyrrell Herndon on Friday night.
Wilder’s upcoming clash is being viewed as a foregone conclusion heading into fight night.
Herndon was stopped inside a couple of rounds by Olympians Efe Ajagba and Richard Torrez Jr, while Wilder is expected to do the same.
The 39-year-old already has multiple warm-up fights lined up for this year, with the view of landing a big one in 2026 with either Anthony Joshua or Francis Ngannou.
